Whoot!
Of course, next week is when it’ll get really crazy. Lots and lots of worx. Staff meeting will be interesting Monday morning. But in the meantime I’ll have a nice Easter weekend.
Thanx for all of your comments on the ficlet. I just submitted it to SQ.
My brother’s bringing Litza’s Pizza home. Hooray!
Mom’s plane from St. Louis is in the air over Colorado right now. Yay!
It’s been raining on and off all day. I just heard a nice big thunderclap. I hope mom’s plane will be able to land.
As I walked out of the office building today, I was greeted by the smell of freshly mown grass. I adore that smell. Hooray for spring!
I need to go shopping for a new blouse to match the skirt my mom made me.
I adore making random entries.

my H/G fluffy ficlet!
Too Young to Fall Asleep Forever
“That one looks like a puffskein.”
“Harry, it’s a cloud. It’s big and round and puffy. They all look like puffskeins.”
Ginny, her back reclining against a large oak tree, ruffled the already-untidy hair that lay in her lap. “Do try to use a bit more imagination.”
“Okay. It looks like a Quaffle.”

Dear sleep gods,
I am completely sick of waking up feeling like I never went to bed at all. This happens no matter what time I go to bed or how long I sleep. Five years is long enough to be continually tired. Enough is enough. Really.
Exhausted,
Emily
Dear Muse,
Thank you so much for allowing me to complete my ficlet idea. It was really very kind of you. Now, umm. Could you give me some more ideas for Albus? Like, a title? And a plot? ‘Cause it’s getting really old, opening the file and staring at the screen, unable to figure out how to continue it. And dude, I’ve only written the *first chapter*. Plus young Albus is starting to lob dungbombs my direction. He really wants to go to the Great Exhibition. So help.
Impatiently,
Emily
P.S.– Also, it would get Rachel off my back. Thanks.
Dear Howard Shore,
I adore you. I got my Trilogy Edition of the LotR Soundtrax yesterday, which means that I finally have The Two Towers soundtrack. I adored listening to the FotR soundtrack, and the RotK soundtrack, but it was like reading only volumes one and three of a three-volume novel. TTT is the glue that sticks them both together, and listening to them all in one long arc is nothing short of incredible.
Can’t wait till I can do the same with the movies.
In awe,
Emily
Dear Whirlwood wands,
Thank you for making the Ginny Weasley wand. I accidentally snapped the one I made myself, and since I can’t get a hold of any spellotape, a new wand was a must. But should I make my own, or buy one? I remembered seeing your amazing wands at Nimbus (at least, I think you were the other wand vendor. Your boxes look familiar), and I wanted one very badly. But I didn’t have a job then, so I couldn’t justify it. Especially since your wands were more expensive than Alivans. But that’s ’cause they’re better. Anyway, I ordered one yesterday. Can’t wait till I get it.
Anxiously,
Emily

I came into work today and couldn’t get on the internet. This is a big problem, since I use the internet extensively in doing my job. Not to mention I couldn’t chex my e-mail or LJ.
I called the IT gal, and she came over and tried to fix it– but of course it didn’t work. Something was wrong with our name server, apparently. Anyway, it’s fixed now, but it took an hour or so. Gah.
The workshop is moving along swimmingly, and without me. My usefullness has been served, and I’m back to my old job. Although we’re really just doing work for the sake of keeping busy, since what we’re doing is going to change radically once this workshop is completed. Makes me feel rather superfluous, although starting next week I’ll have PLENTY to do. Especially as they want to get all the changes entered into the database by Wahleecon. Yes, folks, June 4 is the deadline. Which means I may be working overtime in the days leading up to Wahleecon so I can have the stoopid thing finished and take the time off I need. Gah.
I finally acted on something last night that has been swimming around in my subconcious for a bit– an idea for a fluffly H/G ficlet. It’ll be a bit bigger than a drabble, a bit shorter than an actual fic when it’s done. And yes, Rachel, I know, I know. I’ve been too tired to work on the Essay or Albus anyway. But I *have* been re-reading OotP. And I should finish this ficlet tonight. So no worries.
So look for that in the near future.
BAX to WORX. *sigh*

Actually, the work I’m doing for the workshop today has, thus far, been mostly on my own and at my desk, so is not so bad. But that will probably change as soon as my boss gets done training the OTHER workshop that started meeting today.
In any case, it didn’t take as long to get done yesterday as we were afraid it would. I left around 5:30, having got here at 7. With the time change, it felt like getting up two hours early. I was exhausted by the time I got home. My mom went out of town this week (she’s going to Nauvoo, Illinois with her folks), and neither my dad nor I felt like cooking. We got a hamburger at Hires instead.
In other news, my aunt Kim had a baby yesterday– Matthew Jack Bytheway. Can’t wait to meet him. That family always has cute babies.
This makes two of each for them– Girl, boy, girl, boy.

I’m going to be in a kick-your-butt workshop all week. I’m here insanely early in the morning today, and I get to stay until– whenever. Lovely. My access to computer and e-mail will be limited. If you just HAVE to get a hold of me, send me a text message (on my LJ userinfo page). I’ll try to keep my phone with me.

Today is the TWO MONTH countdown mark for Wahleecon.
Which means that all of you “tentative” people really, REALLY need to give me specific numbers. I need to call Jordan Commons TUESDAY at the LATEST with a count. I don’t want to take the chance of not getting tickets. So to all of you people who didn’t reply to my last post, or who said “I’ll let you know” about bringing more people– I NEED YOU TO REPLY TODAY OR TOMORROW ABOUT THE MOVIE. Got it?
Go here to reply.

I hope you all liked my little April Fool’s joke yesterday. I tried to make it as believeable as possible. I mean, I knew that if I suddenly went “H/H 4 EVA!!!1!11one” none of you would even blink.
But Wormtongue– hee. Very fun. I assure you all that I do *not* find Wormtongue attractive, and that I was really quite delighted that my TTT calendar featured Legolas yesterday. Just so you don’t wonder about my sanity.
I got a new computer at work– hooray for not having to use an old laptop connected to a ghetto monitor anymore– and it’s nice.
It has a headphone jack on the front, so I don’t have to bring my discman to listen to stuff anymore. When the IT people brought it I was on the phone trying to work out a deal with PRAXIS to get a copy of one of their test datasheets, so they just left it and said they’d come back in 10 minutes. They didn’t, so I set it up myself. When it started up it logged in as an administrator, so when I created a user account for myself I made myself an administrator too. So now I don’t have to get an IT guy to come over everytime I need to install something– like Acrobat Reader, for example. And I can install other stuff too. like Mozilla Firefox and Semagic. I have not yet worked up to downloading Y!M, but I’m sure it’s on the horizon. I don’t want to become completely unprodcutive, though.
Speaking of being unproductive, I should get BAX to work.

You know, I’ve been doing alot of thinking lately, and I’ve decided that The Two Towers is my definite favorite of the LotR movies. And it’s all because of this guy *points to icon*. I mean, yeah, Orlando Bloom has his moments, but really, it’s all about Wormtongue. When he talks to Eowyn in Theodred’s chamber, I get chills. So sexy.
I hate Theoden for throwing him out. It’s not Grìma’s fault that he was influenced by Saruman. Greater men than him have been hoodwinked by the White Wizard. I mean, he even fooled Gandalf!
And the poor guy has a sensitive side, too! The tear running down his cheek as he sees the army of Isengard– so beautiful. Legolas never tears up. What’s up with that?
So I am declaring myself the ONE Grìma Wormtongue Fangirl.
That is all.

‘Cause I haven’t really written a lot about my life lately. I was going to write yesterday and tell you all about my Orlando Bloom dream, but it didn’t worx out.
I’ve been happily busy lately. Kate has decided to buy a townhouse, and wants me and Jen to move in with her. Whoot! So Kate and I went house hunting on Saturday. We found the area we’d like to live in, and Kate’s now looking at just which townhouse she’d like. Apparently she found one last night with a lovely deck and view of the valley, and they’re throwing in the fridge and washer and dryer, which would be great. I’ll keep you posted.
Also on Saturday, I was chatting with Angua about various things in the HPverse, and I got a great idea for an essay which I’ve been working on lately. The title is “How to Get Harry Potter to Talk to You (And Make Him Listen to What You Say).” It’s actually quite illuminating. Look for it on a computer screen near you in the near future.
In working on the essay, I’ve brought Ginny with me to work both yesterday and today. Her main function, however, has been a very large and expensive mp3 player, as I’ve been listening to my iTunes library. Yesterday I plugged her into an empty ethernet outlet, but it was entirely too distracting to know *exactly* when I got new mail and when my friends page updated. I didn’t even think about logging into Y!M, as I would have gotten no work done whatsoever. Today I left my cable at home, so as not to be tempted.
One of the things I’ve been listening to the most is the RotK soundtrax. I did end up seeing it again on Friday night, and it was as wonderful as the first two times. I am way behind in seeing that movie. It’ll be in the dollar theatres soon– it was only playing in 3 theatres in the valley on Friday– so I can make up for lost time cheaply.
I would just like to categorically state, though, that Peter Jackson is an absolute genius. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more nearly-perfect adaptation of a book. I want it to come out on DVD so I can have a trilogy party.
So remember when I told you about the big projet we’ll be doing soon? I just got assigned to the committee. o.O. A week-long workshop. Yikes.
Oh. My Orlando Bloom dream. It was a very good dream. He and a bunch of other celebrities were at my house for a party (although I can’t remember who the other celebrities were, and frankly, it doesn’t matter). At first I was kind of playing the crowd, hanging around outside, but eventually Orlando got tired, and he asked me if I wanted to go into the family room, where a bunch of people were watching a movie. Of course I said yes.
We sat down and discovered that it was, in fact, PotC that they were watching.
In my dream, Orlando has this Thing about watching himself. But he didn’t want to get up and leave, ’cause we’d just gotten there, and it would seem rude. So instead he held my hand and kind of squeezed it every time he came on screen. There was a bit of cuddling involved as well.
It was a very, very good dream.
BAX to WORX now. *sigh*
