So, my icon?

I don’t want to talk about it.

That was, without a doubt, the most pathetic excuse for a football game and a football team I have ever had the misfortune to see. A little before halftime, when we were only down 13-41, I said that my old high school team must be playing masquerading in BYU uniforms.

I was wrong. If Murray High were playing, they would have done better than the monstrosity I witnessed on the field.

It wasn’t a football game. It was a massacre. Where the victims kindly self-destructed, thus saving the aggressors from the effort.

The only player who played even remotely well was our punter, Matt Payne, who got a lot more work than I would have liked, who kicked our 2 field goals so that we lost by only 45 points instead of 51, and who made two tackles saving us from having our punts returned for touchdowns. Because, of course, our special teams couldn’t tackle worth beans.

The mediocrity was universal. Neither the players nor the coaches could do a thing. The only people affiliated with BYU that played well was the band. It was the most depressing football game I’ve ever seen, and a waste of the drive to go down there.

But I’m going to keep my icon. Because there is still hope. We have the talent. We just need to wake up and PLAY. And we really need to do it before we play Notre Dame in South Bend.

I’m going to go lick my wounds.

If I weren’t looking at the icon, I would have sworn you were a U of Alabama fan {G}. They sound similar in their disgust and in victory :)

I’m with Wolf. :) 2.5 years at UT, and I haven’t been to a single football game yet!

Think of it this way Wahl,

You got to listen to 2 1/2 CDs of Stephen Fry’s Order of the Phoenix during the drive!

To the rest of you …

Please be nice to Whalee. Emily is what she is because of her experiences, and BYU College Football is part of that. Blame me for introducing her to it at a young age. It is not a vice, despite what some think who have an intense dislike for it. We do not worship at the altar of football at our house. It is a bit if clean entertainment and our entire family enjoys it a great deal (except for last night’s game that is). We do not live and die by the score, nor stop thinking because a little sports enters into our lives. One can be a scholar and use their brains and still enjoy a little sports entertainment once in a while.
