Everyone should go over to MSN and watch the webcast of JKR in Royal Albert Hall. Not only is her reading very interesting, she gives some great answers in the interview. Very, very interesting comments on Draco, on Snape, on Lupin. And she explains the thestrals. Some people think it’s a weak explanation, why Harry couldn’t see it before, but I think it makes sense. It’s the psychological impact of death that makes it possible to see thestrals– the loss of innocence. It takes understanding of death, not just experiencing it, to make it possible. That’s why Harry couldn’t see them because of his parents– he was too young to understand. And why he still couldn’t see them at the end of GoF– he hadn’t yet comprehended Cedric’s death. Makes perfect sense to me.

I want book 6!

Oh, and Mellie getting to meet JKR? So. Freaxing. Cool. And envy-inducing. I want the whole story.

But getting better. Have almost completely re-read OotP and am surprised at how much H/G interaction there is. And the R/H is there, too. I’m also seeing that the humor is there, but that the ending tends to make you forget. There are all sorts of laugh-out-loud moments, and I’m glad to see that they’re still there. People have said that it was absent, but it wasn’t.

I just finished OotP. I’m going to have to take a while to digest it, though, before I can write anything coherent (and the fact that I’ve been up all night doesn’t help either).

I love fanfic, but. . .JKR is brilliant. Nothing is better than canon. Nothing.

Alright, I just heard from Dean, the producer, and he said that my segment will be airing in the first half-hour of the show. So it’ll be before 5:30 AM for me. The show is live, so it airs from 7-9 Eastern, 6-8 Central, 5-7 Mountain, and 4-6 Pacific. I think. Check your local listings.

I know it’s ridiculously early, but I’ll probably still be up. I mean, I’ll have NEW CANON. I’ll either still be up, or I’ll be getting up early.

After I take my shower and don my Hogwarts T-shirt and Ravenclaw necklace (I’ll put on my Ravenclaw uniform closer to The Time), I’m going to make Harry Potter cookies. While listening to the CoS soundtrax. I’m sitting here looking at my HP calendar (which today has Harry and Ron trying to get through the barrier to Platform 9 3/4), not even believing that it’s FINALLY HERE, and that in a scant few hours, I will be holding new canon in my hot little hand. I slept very badly last night (although I had the oddest dream about me being a witch and flying at Emporer Gregor’s wedding– I have NO IDEA where that came from), so I’m exhausted, but I just know that I’m going to be staying up as late as possible reading this book. I doubt I’ll stay up all night– my body just shuts itself down when I get this tired, no matter how much I’d like to stay up– but I have no doubt that I’ll finish it before I go to sleep tonight.

Let’s think here. I finished GoF at about 7:30 on July 8. Now, that was with having read through chapter 8 in the back room at Deseret Book on July 7, then reading through ch. 10 before I went to bed– but I had to work at our Harry Potter Party that day, and only got through about ch. 12 at work after it all calmed down, so I wasn’t even 1/3 of the way through the book as of 3:00. I read the whole rest of it in 4 and a half hours. Add 164 more pages to that, and I really think I’ll be done with the whole book by no later than 8:00. That’s my guess.

O my gosh, I can hardly type. I’m getting WAAY too excited here. Must calm down. Must calm down. Must. . .

Oh, heck. There’s no point in even trying.

Oh, AtE 43 was good. But between reading the epilogue and reading new canon– canon wins.

And I’d really better prepare my Primary lesson today. There’s no possible way I’ll have time to do it tomorrow. Oh, trying to teach a bunch of 7/8 year olds when I’ve been up all night reading canon. . .Primary is going to be INTERESTING, that’s for sure.

Can’t breathe. Can’t. Breathe.

Went to London Market and bought Chocolate Frogs, Acid Pops, Fizzing Whizbees, and Dragon’s Eggs; as well as Cadbury Flake, Galaxy Ripple, Nestle Smarties, and disgestive biscuits. Oh, and an Orangina. So I’m all set. Am also planning on making some HP sugar cookies with my HP cookie cutters to bring to the party as well.

So last night after the shoot, we went to Mimi’s Cafe for dinner. While there, we were making some rather wild predictions over who would die in OotP. After suggesting everyone from Lockhart (“but he wouldn’t remember it”) to Professor Binns (“But he’s already dead!”). Finally, my dad ventured this guess— “The reason she was crying was because she killed herself off. You know, the narrator.” We all absolutely DIED. My brother ventured– “And then Voldemort turned his wand towards the narrator and . . . . .THE END”. I said “Book 6 & 7 will now be written in first person.” We all had a really good laugh. But now that I think about it, it really works– I mean, the narrator is UNRELIABLE, isn’t he/she/it? So she would need to kill off the narrator in order to tell us the TRUTH about Harry and Hermione’s violent love. LOL

Tomorrow is only a day away. . .

Well, that was interesting. The producer, cameraman and sound engineer were here for about 2 hours, and took 30 minutes of footage. We’re not the only family being profiled, so all in all, we’ll probably end up being on TV for all of 15 seconds. Oh, well. It was fun.

They took a shot of me surfing the net. I went to the Leaky Cauldron and Sugar Quill. Don’t know if they’ll show it at all, but I tried.

So. There it is. My fifteen minutes of fame. Or fifteen seconds. Whatever.

My room’s nice and clean, though. And I got my closet door fixed and a new bookshelf.

Definitely worth it.

2 DAAAAYS!!!!

I was going to put this off until Wednesday, but I just can’t help myself.

My whole family is, actually.

Do any of you remember seeing this or this on the Leaky Cauldron? Well, I did, and sent in an e-mail. On Thursday, I got one back, asking for a photo of me and my sibs in our costumes, and asking for more details. I sent him this, and on Saturday he e-mailed me back, asking if he could call me yesterday and talk about it in-depth.

They’re coming on Wednesday to film.

Consequently, I’m frantically cleaning my room, and we’re all frantically cleaning the rest of the house.

But the segment will air on Saturday.
