I’ve made lots lately, and some of them are even for me. See, Angua showed me a few really nice pics of Orli last night, and the icon-making bug kicked in. So I made
and
last night, and am currently making more.
Yesterday we watched our beta classics– the church films I mentioned last time, and our Speedy Gonzales tape, which is just as hilarious as ever. Stupid Cartoon Network, not playing Speedy cartoons. Duh.
Still no word on job. Called Friday. Will send e-mail tomorrow.
My primary kids this year are so cute. I got a new class to teach, so now instead of 4 girls and a boy I have 3 boys and two girls, only one of whom comes regularly. It’s quite a switch. The lesson yesterday was “I Am a Child of God,” and we talked about all sorts of things, one of which was how thankful we should be for our bodies. The kids got to jump around and crawl and basically do lots of things that. Of course, I had to do it with them.
Hey, for all of you in Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, and Washington, get ready! ‘Cause Pride and Prejudice will be opening in your states as early as Jan. 23! Go to the website to find out which theatres will be showing it.
I really need to stop staying up late. It’s making me irritable, I think. Will be asleep by midnight from now on. Really! Stop laughing!

It’s a PC society in which we live. Cartoon Network won’t play Speedy for the same reason Disney wont release Song of the South. The main characters are racially stereotyped. In other words, Mexicans are portrayed as lazy and Blacks as illiterate.
One of these days I’ve got to get you to show me how to make icons. I love the only three I have but….
And yes, I did see Pioneers in Petticoats. About a decade ago but I do seem to remember something about it.

OK, I’m really anxious to see P&P but as my visiting teacher could you let me know when it’s coming here? You’re m0re in the know than I am. Thanx, Pat!

Lou:
I know that is the excuse, but the reality is far from it. Speedy is incredibly popular in Hispanic countries. They love to see the smart, fast Mexican Speedy pull one over on the Gringo Pussy-Gato. In fact, there have been all sorts of petitions from Hispanic communites to Cartoon Network to show them.
For some reason, no one complains when they do the same thing they do in Speedy to the French in Pepe le Pew. It’s the same principle.
Pat: It’s been playing in Salt Lake since December 5. Right now the only theatre that is showing it is Jordan Landing. You can find showtimes in the paper.
