I have literally been out of the house since 10:30 this morning, so I missed the whole blackout saga. Apparently there are still places without power. To all you people suffering on the East Coast and in Canada– I hope you get power soon. I’d hate to be living on the top floor of one of those 100-story apartment buildings. Yuck.
So what kept me away all day? Well, I was woken up at about 9 this morning, which was much earlier than I was planning on since I had been up till 3:30 reading The Corinthian (great book! Sir Richard is so Sir Percy Blakeney), by my mom saying that a lady in our stake had just called. Apparently there was a part-time job opening where she worked, and I could get an interview if I could make it by 11. The job is with the State of Utah, in the licensing department. My job would be filing, a bit of clerical stuff, and answering calls from people with complaints about their doctors, dentists, contractors, etc. I’m incredibly overqualified for it, but jobs are so scarce right now that I’ll take it if they offer it to me. I’d still be able to work weekends at Deseret Book, and between the two jobs I’d be almost at full time.
After the interview my mom (who had given me a ride downtown so I could avoid paying for parking) and I ran a few errands, then went out to the LDS Bookseller’s Convention. I helped her walk around to all the different vendors and explain a new process for vendors to upload images and descriptions to the Deseret Book website. Along the way we got a whole bunch of freebies. I like freebies.
As soon as we finished at the convention, we drove down to American Fork and attended a temple session. My cousin Patrick was going through to get his own endowments, and we wanted to be there with him. It was a very nice session, and I was glad that I got to go.
After the session we went with my grandparents and aunt to the Purple Turtle to get some food. We just barely got home.
I am REALLY tired. I won’t be staying up reading Heyer tonight. At least, not very late.

Wow! Busy day! I guess it’s a good thing that I didn’t call you to do stuff today. Good luck with the job!

I hope the job works out for you. Sounds like it would be a pretty decent one.
I’m glad that you’re enjoying Heyer so much. I’ve never read her myself, but after all your comments about her, I just may have to give it a try. I’ve been looking for some more good summer reading.
