Corsages and boutonnieres were great. We made a rose boutonniere, a carnation boutonniere, a daisy mum boutonniere, and a 3-rose corsage. All mine are white so I can actually use them at the dance. I might end up pulling my corsage apart for hair flowers, though. So I should take pictures now, I guess.
Next week is going to be a nightmare. I’ve got two tests to take on either Tuesday or Wednesday– one–Pearl of Great Price–that will probably take me half an hour, one–Jane Austen– that will probably take me an hour and a half. The bad thing is that I’m working on Tuesday night so I can have Wednesday night off to perform with my social dance class in the dance lab. So I can’t take it either night. Plus, because of the President’s day holiday, Monday classes will be held on Tuesday. Luckily my PoGP class is on Monday and Wednesday, and my teacher canceled class so we can go take the test. So I guess I’ll be doing that. Then, after my 1:00 class, I’ll have a two hour break where I’ll probably take my Austen test. I don’t like the idea of taking two tests in one day a single bit, but what can I do?
I guess I have one more option. Because the Tuesday classes are canceled, the Tuesday floral design labs have to be canceled as well, which means the Thursday labs have to be canceled too. The PoGP test actually has a late day on Thursday. So if I just can’t take the test on Tuesday, I suppose I can pay $4.25 and take it on Thursday when I normally have my lab.
Yuck.

Tell me why you have to pay 4.25$ to take a test ecause that confuses the heck out of me. Seems to me there is a little something called tuition that you pay to learn and if tests don’t fall into the learning catagory then I’m really stumped!

DId I just read that you would have to PAY to take a test and it isn’t the GRE?? No way..that is what tuition is for. Take both tests on the same day and get it over with, so you can enjoy the rest of the week! You’re tough; you can do it

Do you guys have testing centers at college? I hear that BYU’s is kind of unique, but that many colleges are getting them now. Basically, a teacher sends a test to the Testing Center. They do everything for them– score them, keep stats, etc. Usually the tests are scheduled so that you can take them on one of two or three days without paying money. Some teachers then schedule a “late day” with a $4.25 fee. The money goes back to the college, so it’s beneficial to them, and it deters the students from taking it late. Considering my CQoP status, I’ve actually taken a surprisingly few tests on the late day. I’d rather not pay money. But sometimes teachers schedule tests on the worst possible days for me, and my only option is to take them late. I took my first Floral Design test late this semester.
My Austen teacher didn’t schedule a late day– some teachers don’t, as a rule. So I can only take it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Sometimes I like it when teachers don’t schedule late days, sometimes they would come in really handy. This is one of the times when it might come in handy.
But I think I can probably swing taking both tests on the same day.

I had mixed feelings about the testing center. It was kind of nice to be able to take the test at my convenience, but it seemed to give my professors license to regularly produce 3-4 hour tests. There’s no torture (in the realm of schooling, at least) quite so exquisite as waiting an hour in line to pick up a test that takes several hours to complete. Especially when it’s a calculus or physics test. Talk about brain-frying.
