Bit of Ivory

I finally got around to blocking Jen’s wedding present, and I gave it to her on Harry Potter Eve. With all that went on immediately thereafter, I haven’t been able to think much about it. But I just uploaded a few photos, and I can’t resist sharing.

Project: Shoulder Shawl in Cherry Leaf Pattern from Victorian Lace Today
Yarn: Handspun 1-ply 100% silk purchased on eBay from silkindian. Unsure how many yards were used.
Needles: Knitpicks Options size 7 and INOX DPNs size 6, size F Susan Bates crochet hook for picot edging

The shawl being blocked. I stretched the shawl dry on my newly-purchased lace blocking wires, then wet it down.

Close up of the stitch pattern, knitted-on border, and picot edging. I had to re-learn how to crochet to do the picots.

As worn by the happy recipient– a month to the day after her wedding. We were waiting in line for our wristbands for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at the time.

I think she liked it. Now I have to make me one. . .
